SPRING HILL — Charlie and Maria Cardoso are among the millions of Americans who have experienced the misery and embarrassment that come with home foreclosure.

Just one problem: The Massachusetts couple paid for their future retirement home in Spring Hill with cash in 2005, five years before agents for Bank of America seized the house, removed belongings and changed the locks on the doors, according to a lawsuit the couple have filed in federal court. One only need to see that BOA was involved to see that the thing was screwed up. BOA seems to mess everything up they touch....including a foreclosure that they were not suppsoed to make apparently! The only bank that IMHO is worse is HSBC. They pretty much screw everybody.

They lost the check from when I refinanced my car, billed me for downloading statements to quicken that I didn't, and were general asshats about everything. Definitely treat customers like commodities.

I've had no issues with HSBC, on the other hand.

One of the comments from the other story:

This is quite possibly one of the most merit-laden lawsuits ever in the history of meritorious legal actions. Verily, this merit is epic.

The Boston Globe had the BOA foreclosure story last week.

I've never done business with BOA. I would have been in the BayBank->BankBoston->Fleet->BOA thing but BankBoston totally pissed me off in 1998 and I closed my account. I've been with Citizens ever since and they're a lot more reasonable.

I have, unfortunately, been brought into BOA due to them acquiring CountryWide (who probably were not that much better) and it sickens me to know they are making money off me. So far though, no problems. They don't screw you when you make your payments on time and owe them money. Apparently, you need to have paid off your debts and not owe them anything for them to take action against you.

I agree that Citizen's is good. I have been with them for seven years now (knock on wood).
