WEST DOVER, Vermont -- The Suzuki Halfpipe Jam, the country's only grassroots ski and snowboard halfpipe competition, will host its fifth and final qualifying event of the 2006-07 season on Saturday, March 3 in the Gut Superpipe at Mount Snow.
Registration for the event is free and open to the public, however space is limited. The first place winner earns a share of the $2,000 cash purse in addition to a trip to compete in the finals, held in Squaw Valley, California, March 17-18.
Skiers and snowboarders can register the morning of the event between 8-10 a.m. in the Carinthia base lodge. The jam style format allots each competitor as many runs as possible during a two-hour session in Mount Snow's Gut Superpipe, located in the Carinthia base area. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the event.
Spectators will be given the opportunity to demo Head skis and snowboards in the Suzuki Village, located in the Carinthia base area, well as receive sponsor giveaways. Event sponsors include Head, Columbia Sportswear, Yakima and Skiing magazine.
