Any advice on these 3? Does Plattekill have low base issues? Do Hunter and Bellayre have icy hard pack issues and or crowds tomorrow? Where would you go? I have skied all 3 many times. I am just looking for current conditions from recent skiers/sliders.

TIA

Haven't been anywhere in the Catskills lately, but in my limited experience, Plattekill's trail count is a useful barometer for their coverage situation. Usually, it seems, if all 35 trails are open, the coverage is pretty good (by Plattekill standards). That said, I'm curious to hear any first-hand knowledge, as I'm thinking of daytripping it this weekend.

Been to Bell and Hunter in the last 2 weeks . Hunter should be good as they got 10 inches but its over a hard base, same as Bell. Platt got a foot and thats when its at its best. Hunter has the best terrain , and if they groomed a lot of it out the base should be a lot better.

You will not find any crowds this Friday in the Catskills.
Hunter has excellent steep terrain.
Plattekill probably has some fresh powder around somewhere on the mountain.
Belleayre has a lot more moguls than Hunter. Belleayre often makes some fresh snow on top of those moguls just because they like to provide a quality skiing experience.

Good deals here:
Plattekill has $30 lift tickets this week.
Belleayre is $25 lift tickets on Fridays.

Friends skied Belleayre last weekend and it was super sweet. All trails are open, and thank god not over-groomed. Here are a couple of pics a friend posted from last weekend. Everything is open, 52 trails, "backcountry" and the woods have been super! I am kinda pissed I will be skiing Hunter and Holiday Mtn. this weekend due to kid ski racing - I feel like I am missing some of Belleayre's best snow all winter.

Was at Bell yesterday.

The woods are open but still a bit scratchy. Fresh snow abound but over hard pack base. So you're likely to hit both, even in the same trail.

If you want expert, go Hunter. More interesting trails as well.
Belleayre is better for the intermediate level.

I don't recollect 23A being closed other than when the road collapsed a few years back

Didn't it rain, my sister in-law was there yesterday and said she skied in freezing rain.
