My son and I met my father at Gore this weekend to ski a day together. It was his first time out on the slopes since 1992...

He skied a solid 10 years before his last day out in 92. All things considered, pops looked good on his one and only run down the mountain today. He fell a few times on the intermediate trail we were on and thankfully didn't get injured. We didn't want to push our luck any further so he headed into the lodge while my son and I went back out to ski a couple of hours.
It was a cold one today, with the wind chill the weather hovered around 0 degrees while we were out. On the plus side, we did get a bluebird day...

I want to love Gore, with the terrain fully open I'd take this place over anywhere in Southern VT but for whatever reason, they had a ton of their gladed terrain closed today and this looked totally unnecessary scoping things out from the lift and the trails. Honestly the glades looked like they were in better condition then the main trails we were on...

We did get a chance to ski Rumor and Lies which were closed the last time we visited. Both were fast and icy but fun. Other then that, we skied a handful of random black and blue runs the 2 hours my son and I were out together.
Having nearly all the glades closed was a total bummer though. If the Sugarbush team were in charge of opening this place the mountain would have been 100% open today. I totally appreciate how aggressive Sugarbush is with trail openings and wished more mountains followed their lead in that regard.
Here are a few more photos from the day, with the conservative rope drops this Gore team employs, I don't see myself returning here anytime soon unfortunately...
