SPRUCE PEAK AT STOWE, VT - Hosted by Brett Hughes, Grand Ol' Honky Tonk at Spruce Peak is a monthly series of Wednesday night concerts in the new Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center. Honky Tonk is a unique brand of old-school country music played in little bars and roadhouses all around the country with guitars, fiddles, pedal steel and supporting singers who weave tales of good times and bad behavior to a rollicking back beat. The next Grand Ol' Honky Tonk concert is Wednesday, July 27 at 7pm featuring Waylon Speed & The Whiskey Lickers. All general admission seats including a dance floor area are $12, available online at www.sprucepeakarts.org , or call 802-253-3000 for info.

About the Musicians:

Waylon Speed is the convergence of four musicians from Burlington, Vermont, bringing their unstoppable no frills country-metal blend of rock to a rapidly growing horde of devoted fans nationwide. Equipped with a full pallet of all original music, Waylon Speed has been touring extensively in support of their debut release, Georgia Overdrive. Members have shared bills with national touring acts such as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Blues Traveler, Little Feat, My Morning Jacket, Junior Brown, Del McCoury, and Les Claypool. The Whiskey Lickers, based out of Bellingham, Washington, play drinking songs, sea shanties, ballads and folk songs from the rich Celtic tradition of western Europe and the North-Atlantic, with interpretations combining both traditional and contemporary styles. Brett Hughes has been hosting his weekly Honky Tonk Tuesday sessions for five and half years in Burlington, VT and in that time has bee! n joined by well over a hundred musicians. Awhile back, he took the show on the road with Mike Gordon (of Phish) and Ramble Dove, playing dates in major Northeastern cities, as well as several festivals including Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, moe.down, and the Evolve Festival in Nova Scotia.
