Many places run buses to Hunter: http://www.huntermtn.com/huntermtn/resort/getting-here/bus-lines.aspx. I've taken a few of the various options, and I've been most impressed with http://www.nycski.com/ (which I rode to Hunter yesterday). They really seem to have their act together, and they provide a pretty decent breakfast from Lenny's in the morning.

Emilio's goes to a nice range of different places (including some in VT), but I had a frustrating experience. The bus was 45 minutes late picking us up, and then it broke down out in Paramus, NJ on the way back. Some people took a $100 cab back, a few of us caught a public bus, and I guess the rest waited around for them to send out a new bus.

Being stranded in NJ notwithstanding, these bus trips are a great deal. Relaxing way to get to and from the mountain, and the prices are tough to beat (~70 roundtrip including lift ticket).
