what dimensions are you looking for? As much as we joke about it, I'd be down with riding the 'ladies tee' half pipe. I have no interest in riding up 15 foot walls.

Would be less intimidating to have smaller walls, but as I understand it, the taller walls are safer as they allow more space in the transition (transition being the flat area above the u-shape)

All that being said I snbd I don't like halfpipes,

10' walls, 40' to 50' length.
I skied a small one at Mohawk once that had 8ft walls and was about 20 ft. long, and skied one at Powder ridge that was a little bigger.
Sundown had a great feature at the end of last season with a jump angled to the left with a halfpipe walled landing so you could hit it small all the way up to the point where i was watching kids twisting off 720's with some silly amplitude.
I will have to ck. out woodbury next year.
The Megapipe at Killington is rarely used cause it's just too F'n big.
The only bad thing i see about smaller pipes is they would be used more and therefore need more maintenance.

Mount snow will have a 8 to 10 footer that's a few hundred feet long up and going for the 3rd consecutive season on Mine Shaft this coming season - kind of fun thing even for a non park person like myself to play around in every now and then and way more user friendly for mere mortals than their other 1/2 - the 18 footer!

x2. I dig the mini pipe. I've skied the super and the mini. The mini is way easier IMHO. You can really get in over your head in the super pipe.

Gunstock has an inground half pipe also (called the "Smith" half pipe on their trail map). I'm not sure what the radius of it is, but it's quite long. The top of the pipe is level with the ground, so I saw people dropping into it from the sides and also popping out as well, along with some just straight lining it through the bottom since it doesn't have much pitch. I think they rely on natural snowfall for it, so it may be flatter and easier than a true half pipe.

"snbd" ?
I like to hit the pipe, kinda feel like a toolbox though since I'm just riding up/down the walls. Are there any programs/lessons availabe that don't cost 400$? I would like to be able to "boost air" before I turn 40 :)

About 10-12 feet is a very good "traditional" halfpipe size, this is what many many halfpipes were during the 90's. Thing is, it still needs to go to vert, otherwise it's worthless. A 10ft pipe with about 1/2 to 1 foot of vert is perfect for learning on.

A smaller pipe is not worthless if you have a 9 year old nephew who idolizes Shawn White.

Jersey yo!!
Killington already has one in the Timberline terrain park at Ramshead. Plenty of features, hits, rails, jumps, and a smaller half pipe than what's over at Bear.

In that park with my kids all the time. Makes me nuts to watch them jump around in there. They make me very nervous when they jump around like that.

I've only seen a halfpipe in there for one weekend, and i'm there every weekend.
It would be nice if it was there full time, but maybe it requires to much maintenance.
The Timberline Park is sweet because you can rip the Trees for a bit before you enter the park.

You miss the point. The halfpipe, even if it was only 6ft deep, still needs to go to vert, otherwise you get thrown onto the deck.

It's there all season, or at least it was last season. It's not at all big though, but it's there. It's small enough that you could be mistaking it for side by side rails, or whatever those things are called, but it is in there. Just pretty small. Prolly around 1/2 way down Timberline.
