Hi Guys,
I am planning a weekend trip out to Mt. Snow in March with a bunch of folks from NYC. I was thinking of splitting the weekend with one day at Mt. Snow and one day at Haystack. I'd like to get some of your opinions/feedback on some questions I have.

Most of the people on the trip are snowboarders and I have concerns that Haystack may be more of a skier crowd. Should I be concerned?

Looks like Haystack is mostly an intermediate mountain, if there are beginners in the crowd, would they be better off with Mt. Snow on both days? Or is Haystack also beginner friendly?

I've never been to the area before, so I'm clueless as to what's out there except the stuff I read on the Mt. Snow website. Thanks!

Haystack is good for a day of skiing if it is close to 100% open. I believe Haystack is only open on weekends so there ia a good chance of some fresh tracks. Haystack is beginner friendly in that it has light crowds and a couple of greens off of the mid mountain lift.

Boarders may find the flat portion at mid mountain annoying as it requires holding a tuck or unbuckling to skate. There is an experts area on the skiers right of the upper mountain with some decent pitch and a seperate lift.

As mentioned above - its closed during the week, so if it snow the week prior to your visit, you will be stoked. mainly cruisers.....the "Witches" has some steeps and some decent trees (although short on vertical). If I remeber correctly there are a couple of tight lines off right side the summit chair if theres decent cover and you are willing to look.

No High speed lifts.

Some fun can be had there...but not to much excitement.

Hey

Hey ... also keep on eye on the temps - Haystack has no high speed lifts and those suckers get COLD. The trails at Haystack are pretty good, but they rarely make snow though except for desparate emergencies.

Mt. Snow is much more interesting in my opinion and almost guareented to have more terrian open.

Haystack is nice if it has been snowing as it is closed during the week. But Mount Snow is big and fun enough that you don't have to Haystack to enjoy your weekend. We only go there when it's ONY Resident Day and its on the cheap.
