Hutchinson Python NG 29 x 2.1 Tubeless Ready Race Riposte
Just like their venerable 26" Python, the Hutchinson Python 29 Tubeless Ready Tire is a great hardpack tire. The secret is a blend of just-right traction and rolling performance from the tread that consists of low, linked knobs down the middle, intermediate-height transition knobs for better bite through loose gravel that might litter the hardpack, and ever-so-slightly taller shoulder knobs for secure cornering. The tread is a synthetic rubber compound that is tough and light, and it will go for miles and miles and miles. The result is a big tire that rides like a small tire -- the great contact patch and superior roll of the 29er, with the nimble feel of a 26er.
The Hutchinson Python 29 Tubeless Ready Tire measures 29 x 2.1. It uses a 127tpi casing and has a folding Kevlar bead. In the Hutchinson world, Tubeless Ready means that tires like this one have a bead designed for tubeless systems, and like their UST counterparts, it is specially shaped for a secure and consistent interface with the rim. However, unlike a true UST tire, the Tubeless Ready Python 29 lacks the extra layer of butyl rubber that lines the inside to make it impermeable and totally airtight. It can be used with or without a tube. If you choose the tubeless route, we strongly recommend using a latex sealant to create a proper tubeless seal and to ward against pinhole leaks in the casing. In addition, the sealant will give you protection from punctures out on the trail.
