Which charities would you choose, and how much of the $100K would you give to each?

Wow, unusual question. I'd give a big chunk to Catholic Charities and let them parse it out. Might direct the other half to some of the parochial schools I or my kids attended. Catholic schools at the elementary or high school level tend to pay their teachers rather modestly and often operate on a shoestring budget as a labor of love.

I’d probably spread it out to make the most impact. I’d start with $30K for local food banks since I’ve seen how vital they are in my community. I’d put $20K into mental health charities, especially since mental health has been close to my heart. Another $20K would go to environmental groups fighting climate change—got to protect the planet for future generations. I’d allocate $15K to education programs in underfunded schools, as I know how important good education is. Finally, I’d give $15K to animal welfare, because I’ve always been passionate about helping animals in need.
