I think they need to try that here...

I've only been to one once, but I vowed to never go back. Ever.

My distaste is probably mostly because my daughter threw a massive tantrum somewhere in the middle of the maze, near breakables, necessitating me to remove her from the store. Following that goddamned maze to try to get out while carrying a screaming child is NOT fun. I was about ready to start busting through racks and displays Incredible Hulk style just to get the hell out of there as quick as possible.

So, yeah, not an IKEA fan

Just something wrong with perpetuating that stereotype. Not that I am a big fan of shopping, but is it a good thing to reinforce the gender devide by making it okay for women to be "shopaholics" and men to hate it? My wife and I split our pain- I shut up while we shop, she shuts up while we sit at the bar. I can do a lot of shopping if there's good beer at the end.

What if you could get good beer while she shopped?

Nordstrom's typically have a bar/restaurant inside them.

thankfully, my wife hates shopping as much or more so than I do.

My wife and I do a similar type thing. Except that while SHE shops, I sit at the bar, and every so often she stops by the bar (usually just to drop off a few bags of recent purchases so she doesn't have to carry them into subsequent stores) :)

My shopping job is to be the holder of prospective and recent purchases. When my arms are full, we're done. If I were just the depot, I'd never be able to afford the beer...

Good system. I wouldn't want to mess with something that works!

We actually like IKEA, but I'll do everything I can to go on a weekday; same idea as avoiding weekend skiing.
