Intense combined the proven all-mountain capability of the original 5.5 with the cross-country know-how and lighter weight of their dedicated XC models to create the 5.5 FRO Mountain Bike Frame - a featherweight all-mountain bike that comes ready to race. With 140mm of plush, responsive VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) suspension to suck up obstacles and prevent pedal-bob, the 5.5 FRO also boasts quick, nimble, and confident handling rarely found on long-travel bikes--the key is a steeper head angle, shorter chainstays, and a shorter wheelbase. Intense also borrowed the bi-oval tube shape from their XC-oriented Spider model to shave around a half pound off the original 5.5, giving this FRO (For Race Only) iteration killer acceleration. As usual, the CNC-machined tubing displays the gorgeous hand welds and quality craftsmanship you've come to expect from Intense Cycles. Compatible with up to 2.5-inch tires, this frame excels in competitive racing as well as epic all-day rides.
