Looks like a track line broke sending the cabin to the ground. One child is dead and another is in the hospital. Apparently the tram had been closed for the last year due to COVID and had only recently reopened. The lines were replaced in 2016.

So awful.

Remember how pissed folks were at the Sugarloaf chair failure? Imagine if something like this happened in the US

I hear you. It seems odd that a line that was only five years old failed. I'm sure that LiftBlog will provide updates as to the investigation. Certainly having it out of service for a year did not help.

Me too. That was so bad.
That was just a freak thing. Anyone who has been to any part of the Alps know that there are TONS of aerial lifts everywhere--and a lot of them are trams. If you are going to fly that low you need to know where the hell you are and stay away from lifts.

This is horrible

Yeah, disabling the E-Brake so you can operate is pretty bad.

Holy shit that was intense. Well, we can see what precipitated the accident--the haul rope snapping. Unreal that someone was there filming it with their phone (presumably) at the time. The other footage looks like it's from a surveillance camera.
