Free concerts scheduled every Friday evening

LUDLOW, Vt. - Okemo Mountain Resort kicks off summer with the return of the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series. Free concerts are scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. every Friday night from June 15 through August 31.

On Friday nights throughout the summer season, the lawn in the courtyard at Okemo's Jackson Gore Inn is transformed into an outdoor concert venue featuring popular local and regional bands. Admission to the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series is free and the grounds open at 5 p.m. Concerts are scheduled from 6 until 9 p.m. Families are welcome and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. In case of rain, the concerts will move indoors. Dining options include fresh-from-the-grill burgers, hot dogs, and other summertime favorites, or full-service dining with an al fresco seating option at Jackson Gore's Coleman Brook Tavern.

Kicking off this year's concert series, on June 15, is the Adam Ezra Group. The group's live performances are sweaty, passionate affairs that have been compared to those of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Having toured with Rusted Root, Jason Mraz, The Goo Goo Dolls, Blues Traveler, Los Lobos, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Dwight Yoakam, and many more, the Adam Ezra Group has graduated from the local Boston scene to the national level with a momentum that is catapulting them toward being one of the country's most-talked-about bands.

Following the Adam Ezra Group, the summer lineup for the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series includes: Banjo Dan & The Mid-Nite Plowboys, June 22; Remember September, June 29; Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers, July 6; The Butties, July 13; Gypsy Reel, July 20; Medicine Warriors, July 27; The Joey Leone Band, August 3; Jamie Ward, August 10; The Chris Kleeman Band, August 17; The Sly Geralds Band, August 24; The Kind Buds, August 31.

In addition to the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series, Okemo will host three signature Saturday events this summer. The Resort celebrates Independence Day with its Red, White and Blues Festival, an all-American concert featuring popular blues artists: The Chris Kleeman Band, The Eames Brothers Band, Lydia Warren and The Dave Keller Band. Admission is free and the music starts at noon. Okemo's annual Hops in the Hills Brew Festival and Chicken Wing Championship will feature plenty of beer sampling, wings, and musical guests Chris Kleeman
and The Tony Lee Thomas Band on Aug. 4. Okemo wraps up summer with its annual Parrothead Party with Jimmy Buffett tribute band Changes in Latitudes, starting at noon on Oct. 6.
