A spectacular deep blue sky with stunning visability provided a top-notch day of Skiing at Mt. Sunapee.

It was magically uncrowded, there was no wait at the Sun Bowl. The snow was remarkably consistent.

Powder was available for rope duckers

This mountain functions like a dream at this attendance level

What Crowds?

This had to be the best price/value/convenience of the Week.

ALL the legends were clearly visible

Mt. Washington
Killington
Okemo
Stratton
Mt. Snow

Price $43.50 with flex card

I was there on Sunday, and when I ended up parking in one of the satellite lots I thought it would be very crowded...but it was really nice. Even the South Peak Quad didn't have too much of a line.

The trails did get scraped up by the afternoon, but the snow surface was really good considering the weather we've had lately. I'm sure it was even better for those who can stay to the edges of the trails...

My price: $40 (SkiNH pass)

I was at Sunapee on Saturday and Sunday (like I am just about every weekend), and it was great. I expected it to be crowded, but it wasn't

Saturday the conditions were great, and I spent most of the day in the bowl. I noticed in the afternoon, they had the bowl chair cranked up which meant they the chair would stop a lot as people were having trouble getting on. When I switched over to the front, there were no lines on the HSQ (especially if you skied around to the left side lines).

Sunday I was working on trail maintenance for the J-III qualifier on Eggbeater, so I wasn't able to ski much, but I did get a bunch of runs in Flying Goose before the mountain was open which made my morning. The rest of the day was spent running up and down Eggbeater fixing the "breakaway" poles and raking the course.

Conditions were good yesterday (9th), got a comp so I was happy...

A ski patroller by the name of Gary, did not like that I was skiing unmaked (and unroped) glades... Tough luck for him, because the snow was pretty good! Mentioning that New Hampshire has a new law about only skiing on open trails, even if a ski area has a boundary to boundary rule... I'll be at cannon tomorrow if anyone is around.

Agree with you all - it was great. I skied on Sunday. Vitually no line at all at North Peak Triple. I was able to ski directly to the lift w/o even stopping till the very entrance for most of the time. And I basically did not need any other lift.

The question is where there will be fewer people the upcoming weekend. Does anybody has an idea? My current plan is to stay at home. I was on MLS at Loon last year and I do not want to repeat that terrible experience - the biggest crowd I've seen ever in New England and at all. Besides, it looks that this weekend works like a magnet for the brave and dangerous skiers/snowboarders who do not ski/ride for the rest of the year.

Traditionally MLK is the busiest weekend of the year. However, I think the weather may play a big role into the crowds. The general feeling at Sunapee is that if there's snow on the ground in Boston, then Sunapee gets crowded.
