I'm admittedly taking the lazy way out by asking here rather than researching this. Is anyone familiar with the latest on the idea of Haystack opening it's slopes to a members-only clientele? I remember hearing about some original plans that even included putting in a heliport to shuttle members back and forth to NYC and Boston.

Thanks.

I drove through Haystack last winter finding a short-cut from Mt. Snow to Rt 7 West to avoid the Wilmington traffic. There are some *major* houses in that area.

I had never skiied Haystack when it was part of Mt. Snow or ASC. I wouldn't mind checking out it's slopes some time.

For that I think your going to have to earn your turns. If they even let you on the property.

I don't recall the details but a friend of mine owns a house near MT Snow and invested in the Haystack thing. He described it to me as a skiing country club. I was up at his house last season and we drove through the Haystack development area. He told me the buildout wasn't going well and they had refunded his investment

The only thing that has changed is their website is now back on-line.

I took a drive through the base area about a month ago. There were only 4 condos built with the foundation laid for 2 more. I did take a "the tour" about 20 months ago, right before they announced a "postponement". At that time, they were asking for some significant deposits, but could put a list price on a slope side condo. The base lodge was about 1/2 refurbished at that time.

Unfortunately, it looks just like it did 18 months ago.

As of 2 weeks ago when I was last up at Mount Snow and took a drive through Haystack(my kids for some reason really like to drive through there ) the only thing that is currently being done there is a landscaping service is maintaining the plantings outside the 4 completed (but yet really looking unsold) townhomes that are located maybe 100 yards below the baselodge. Last I looked, a few months ago, those 4 townhomes were listed for around 800K each, and considering that there are currently 4 developments in the more immediate Mount Snow base area with new townhomes being built (and sold) in the 500k to 900k range (Boulder Ridge, Snow Vidda, The Outlook, and Kingswood), I'd really be suprised if there much action on those units anytime soon.

Based on that, I'd doubt that they'll be any action on Haystack anytime soon also. While the lifts and snowmaking pipe are still in place and from afar look like they could be brought back to life with relatively minor routine maintenance, the state of the base area and what used to be it's parking lots needs ALOT of work now. Before Haystack Club construction operations ceased, it they basically cut out/dug out a road that started from basically the baselodge, then looped around through the old parking lots and then finished up back on the main access road not too far below where you used to turn into the old lower mountain base lodge area. And from a safety point, quite a bit of earth moving work would need to be done around a decent portion of this new road before you could reopen the mountain.
