What a great start to the season. I think the crew at Loon need a round of applause for the work they accomplished. Not only did they have a good amount of blues open, but they kept the guns blasting on runs like Rampasture and Seven Brothers, a real pleasure to ski.

The Northpeak trails got icy by nine, including Haulback, which was the worst trail of the day. Loon Peak held loose granular throughout most of the day with the exception of Seven Brothers which was PP. The Kancamangus area was the best holding PP throughout the whole day. Very view lift lines. Go get some, you can see the new guns making a difference.
The best Loon early season in years.

Yes, this is the best early season at Loon in years! Can't repeat that enough, very impressed. Rampasture was my favorite run today, nice surface conditions. And yes, pretty much skied onto the lifts.

Same here that I was there for my first day of the season. Enjoyed Rampasture and Race City making snow with new tower guns, and Seven Brothers being blasted with classic guns.

I was impressed that they also had North Peak Quad and East Basin chair running with Sunset, Haulback and Lower Walking Boss open. Haulback got pretty ice quickly but Sunset and LWB was still in pretty good shape even at the end of the day.

Came across "conveyor loading" for the first time on the Seven Brothers Triple. Pretty neat. It would be interesting to see how it would operate with larger crowd.

I was at loon 11/28 and 12/4, I agree they are doing a pretty darn good job for early season. On the 4th I found it got very icy after 2:30'ish

That conveyor loading was interesting, watched a few people lose skis/poles trying to figure it out.

Hopefully, the conveyors makes that lift better than it used to be, I snapped my ski off loading twice last year in one day because of all the swing the chair gets when its loaded (I don't snap my ski off on any other lift; I think that happened because I'm tall. Plus, the gondola was on windhold that day so taking that lift was a must to get to North Peak.

Well, hopefully the ski buses get some people soon. NAC Ski www.nacski.com doesn't even have anyone signed up for this weekend yet; and I'm tempted to sign up for Loon for this Sunday; but they need at least 25 people to run. Though, gotta see how Thursday works out for me before I make any firm commitments. Plus, I have a $20 credit from last season to use by 12/31 and the trip costs $57 including ticket (that's $19 less than the early season window price). My ID for them is MA80873413

Tomorrow one of the Ken Jones' shops is running their demo day for $40 w/a ticket... I'll be there.
