it's long gone but looks exactly as i remember it....the candy store is to the left of the theatre....incredible pic....saw my first movie there & remember fights in the bathroom....we left brooklyn on 7/7/71 a saturday....i still tell the story of that day....we had a 1971 pontiac lemans & we put a bunch of plants on the back window because we had no room....the exit on the northern state pkwy exit 42 north has a huge curve in it. my father was going too fast & the plants went all over....i still tell this story today to anyone in my vehicle getting off that exit....

was the Pitkin Theatre on Pitkin avenue....Mr Pitkin was the founder of East New York lol....now thats old school....i wonder how many movies my mother & uncle saw there....

yes on 7/7/71 a saturday....wtf is 42 north? we moved from 2169 70th st, brooklyn, ny 212-be2-0279 to 350 clay pitts rd, e npt, ny 516-266-2467....it was a big deal for both of my parents especially my beloved mother who was a traditional Jewish brooklyn girl....

Small world...a good friend of mine lives right behind the Salvation Army on Clay Pitts when you make that turn from Larkfield. Some people on this forum have skied with him. My accountant is on Bay 23rd right where you used to live. Now that I don't live in Rockaway anymore I should consider someone closer next year....

I use to play basketball at the Sal in the early-mid 70s. Is your friend on Groover Lane? I met a gal 2 years ago that lives on that street. She made dinner for me, my father, her father & herself. Where you live now? how long has your buddy lived there? we were in e npt for 30 years. does your buddy ski at k? small world, huh....

No...lives on Orton which is right off of Grover, he's only been there for about 5 years. I'm in East Meadow now. He skis at K but isn't a regular.

e meadow & e npt two very different environments....its a long ride to k from e npt....taxes use to be $3k a year....
