Massaemett Mountain, MA
Date Hiked: 10/31/06
Trails(s) Hiked: Unnamed from water tank
Total Distance: Unsure, about 1,100 vertical feet
Difficulty: Moderate
Conditions: Clear
Special Required Equipment: None
Since my work computer was locked up processing data and because the weather was so nice, I snuck out late in the afternoon and hiked up Massaemett from Shelburne Falls (its a faster, less challenging hike when taken from the High Ledges area). The views were great - when I first reached the top of the rock fire tower, I could see Monadnock, Haystack, Mt. Snow, Mt. Greylock, and the smaller mountains in the Pioneer Valley. The sunset was especially good, dominated by fitting Halloween colours. I then ran most of the way down because I had forgotten to bring a flashlight and it was getting dark fast!
