OK - so what do you think the solution is with Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement? Obviously he is not getting the job done in the AL or against the Yankees when it really counts. Personally, I wish the Sox would unload him back to the National League where even weak-kneed pansies like him can succeed. I'm glad he finally shaved off that Amish-looking chin-only beard, but that just means I have to look at more of his gutless, expressionless, milquetoast face. He stinks......

Yeah, Clement is terrible. The only reason he ever wins a game is because the Sox happen to score a ton of runs on some of those nights. Too bad we couldn't have gotten rid of Clement for Wily Mo instead....

Note to Matt Clement from a longtime coach and ballplayer,

1 -Receive ball back from catcher
2 -Toe the rubber, receive sign from catcher
3 -Acquire target from catcher
4 -Throw the ball....

38 seconds to deliver a pitch?

ball away in 12 seconds max unless holding a runner...

way too much thinking going on out there( and none of it can be any good)...throw the bloody ball!!!
:flame:

This guy doesn't need a pitchcount, he needs a stopwatch!!

Hee Hee...been wondering where all my Red Sox buddies were hiding.

So now they don't play again for 10 weeks...somebody please shoot the schedule maker!

After 7 games the record stands at 3-4 Yanks/Sox on the way to the usual .500 season series deadlock. All that's going to matter is who has homefield for the playoff grudge match.

Same old same old.

I've known Clement was a stiff for sometime, ever since he was on the Cubs. I'm a Cubs fan (and a Red Sox fan as well) and he always frustrated the hell out of me when he was on the Cubs. Had some decent stuff but never could win. He was either at .500 or had a losing record. When the Red Sox picked him up, I was wondering what the hell they were thinking throwing all that $$ at him.

he's been god awful since last years allstar break. his fastball is mush and he cant throw that slider for strikes. I would love to think they'll trade him, but honestly, who would take on that ERA and that salary? No one wanted him in the offseason when he was being shopped, they certainly wont want him now.

They were thinking he was going to have a breakout year like Pavano! (or is that breakdown years) Myers & Farnsworth did the job last night against Big Papi, how many innings did Manny lead off?

Wonder if they could have got Willy No if they were willing to trade Clement & pay most of his salary. Notice three of the best hitters in NL are Nomar, Rent-a-Wreck & Hanley R?? Two of the best pitchers Bronson & Pedro. (Of course, their is Derek Lowe & Bill M is on the DL again)

Boston is paying 9.825 for Clement. NY is paying how much for Randy J.???

I suspect if Lester & Hanson look good by July, they may trade him for a prospect of even release him & let these guys try. If Well's is really done, they make a trade for someone, we've got plenty of outfielders, Trot, Pena, Harris, Mohr & Stern & Kapler is on his way back from the DL.

This year may be the year that the trend ends where the Sox and Yanks both make it. The AL Central is looking good to have a wildcard team and the Blue Jays look as if they should be around later in the year. It should be interesting.

As well as Papelbon has done as a closer, I think they should move him into the rotation. Get Hansen in there to close and send Clement to whoever will take him. Hansen was bred as a closer and Papelbon as a starter - it seems right to put them in their rightful roles now instead of swapping them later.

I don't believe that for a second...and neither do you.

Make like Bellhorn and Embree- TO THE YANKEES! Pick up Clemens, trade Snow for Arroyo to get rid of Wells, and we've got a spectacular staff.

they're actually grooming Hansen right now for long relief. They been starting him with the purpose of building his stamina and changing his mindset. You can't just take someone mid-season out of a closing role and make them a starter, or vice versa. It is a very different approach to pitching and to physical training.

Next year, look for Papelbon to be a starter and Hansen to close - although Papelbon WAS the closer at Mississippi State and was very successful at it.....
