Mavic Ksyrium Equipe S Road Wheelset - Clincher

Upgrading your wheels can be an ordeal. You want something that is light and will last more than a season, but you don't want to get stuck with the same boat anchors you already have. The Mavic Ksyrium Equipe S Clincher Wheelset offers the golden blend of high-end features and rent-preserving price.
The Equipe S is substantially less expensive than the Elite thanks to a combination of small details. The rims are made with 6106 aluminum, and welded together with Mavic's SUP welding process, which ensures both strength and smooth, powerful braking. Rather than having Fore drilled rims like you'd see in the upper tiers of the Ksyrium family, Mavic used H2 grommets, which offer similar strength without the technical manufacturing to drive up the price. Of course, you'll have to use rim tape as you would with any traditionally-constructed rim.
The Equipe S wheels roll on the same double sealed, C3 cartridge bearings as the upper-level Ksyriums. They're perfect for all-weather training, and the bearings have good efficiency and durability. For more stability in the rearhub, Mavic uses FTS-L reinforcement between the pawl and hub body; twostainless steel inserts add strength without much weight.

The black, bladed, straight-pull, self-locking steel spokes lace to the rim in a 20-spoke radial pattern in front. The rear hub uses Mavic's Isopulse lacing -- radial on the drive-side and a two-cross pattern on the non drive-side. The combination of spoke pattern and spoke material makes for better stability and power transfer in the wheel than previous iterations of the Equipe S.

Mavic is expanding the line of its wheel-tire system, and included Griplink/ Powerlink front and rear specific clincher tires with the Kysrium Equipe wheel set. They're 127 TPI tires, with good grip, and the kind of durability you'd expect from Mavic. The Mavic Kysrium Equipe Clincher Wheelset comes with BR601 front and rear quick releases, rim tape, and a user guide. They come in Black and White and are available with a Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM compatible freehub body.
