Due to the storm and no power and a severed cable line at work and intermittent power and also a severed cable line at home, I had activated the personal hotspot on the iPhone (Droids have this, too).

It works very well and both computers are online. I chose the 2GB plan from VZ. So far I've used .033GB.

I am hoping someone out here may know the below:

1. What's the difference between the data plan on the phone (unlimited) and paying $20 for GB for a hotspot? Isn't the same Data that the iPhone / Droid or your laptop would use as if you were web surfing?

2. Also, I am wireless at home for printing. Right now my laptop is connected via the Wi-Fi to the Iphone. When I print I have to go to the networks and change to my home network to print and then to resume working, go back on the iphone's network. Is there a way to be on two networks (one to print & one to access the net). I am using a MacBook and a Dell Desktop running XP.

AFAIK it's the same kind of data, but you tend to use more when surfing full versions of a website on a laptop than you would just using the phone. I think it's just a way for them to make sure you don't abuse your unlimited plan, and to get some extra money out of you.

I don't think there's an easy way to do what you want with the printer.
