Date(s) Hiked:
Saturday, 24 July, 2004
Trails(s) Hiked:
Crawford Path, Webster Cliff Trail, Webster-Jackson Trail, Rt. 302
Total Distance:
8.5 miles, 3000' elev. gain
Difficulty:
light moderate
Conditions:
less humid than earlier in the week, 60 deg., mostly cloudy
Special Required Equipment:
$4.00 for a patch at Mizpah Spring Hut
Trip Report:
Nine of us hiked this relatively easy loop of these two southern Presidentials. We hiked up the Crawford Path from the Highland Center (free parking ) to Mt. Pierce then over to Mt. Jackson via the Wester Cliff Trail and the Mizpah Spring Hut, descending via the Webster-Jackson Trail to Rt. 302. Then back to the parking area past Saco Lake. With the exception of Kelly's bad knee it was an uneventful hike. The best views were from the Webter Cliff Trail looking north to Mt. Washington poking it's head through the clouds.
This was Peggy's first mountain hike. Congrats. to her for bagging her first two 4000 footers.
It's too bad her husband couldn't join us.
