Date(s) Hiked:
Tuesday, August 10, 2004 Morning

Trails(s) Hiked:
Starr King, Kilkenny Ridge

Total Distance:
7.2 miles, elev. gain 2650' Total trail time 2hrs. 55min.

Difficulty:
An EASY 4000 footer

Conditions:
Mostly sunny, a little humid, mod. temps.

Special Required Equipment:
None

Trip Report:
I hit the trail at 9:45 this morning and advanced quickly towards the summit. The was one blowndown a few hundred yards below the Mt. Starr King summit. The only views were near the same summit.

I reached the summit of Mt. Waumbek at 11:45, turned around and started down, reaching the parking area at 12:40.

Overall this hike was not as viewless as I had been led to believe it would be. It was certainly better than Tecumseh and Hale, and it's a relatively easy hike.

Did you like the col between the peaks? I found that whole section with its turquoise-ish hanging moss and pine-needled forest floor to just be mesmerizing...

I was running both times I passed through there, but I did see it briefly. :D

I saw another trail recently that was like that...come to think of it, I've seen alot of trails recently, and I can't remember which it was.

Looks like I'll be finishing my Presi traverse this coming Monday, I hope to bag Washington again Sunday night, we'll see. :D
