LUDLOW, Vermont -- Benjamin Farrow, age 14, of Mount Holly, Vt., a member of the Okemo Freeride Team, will be making his 2007 network television debut on Sunday, February 25. NBC will be airing the Sports Illustrated KIDS Nextsnow finals at 1 p.m., Eastern Time.

"Benjamin Farrow from Okemo will definitely be included in this Sunday's broadcast of the Next Snow Search on NBC," says Nextsnow spokesman Mike Smedley. "Please let fans of your resort know to watch on Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC.

Benji has been sliding on snow since age four and started participating in local snowboard competitions in 2005. Having tasted national competition last year at the Sports Illustrated KIDS Nextsnow finals at Keystone, Co., - and taking third in the Big Air event – Benji has taken his interest in snowboarding to a new level. He spent the summer working on a farm, hauling hay bales, to raise funds to cover his USASA registration, some event fees, equipment and a modest amount of coaching.

Okemo Mountain Resort owners Tim and Diane Mueller recognized Benji's raw talent and personal commitment to snowboarding and offered him some financial help in the form of a sponsorship that included him as a member of the newly formed Okemo Freeride Team. Five young athletes, three of whom are attending Okemo Mountain School, make up the Okemo Freeride Team and are competing nationally this winter.

"One of our goals is that Benjamin … as much as is possible … always enjoy the experience of riding with friends, being young and competing safely, " says Benji's dad, Chris Farrow. "Benjamin also has a keen awareness of the blessing he has received and the personal responsibility that goes with the opportunities he's been given.
