Just a reminder for us CT folks. Tommorrow, July 1st, the tax on alcohol goes up  So either stock up today, or do what so many of us that live remotely close to a border do, and cross state lines to stock up!

I'm going to buy beer, drive it through Connecticut and bring it to RI.

I can still choose, in that if I drive 10 minutes East from my house, i'm in RI and if I drive 10 minutes North from my office i'm in MA :) :)

Proudly buying it all out of state since 2009. This state is something else.

The liquor store owners have lobbyists to fight the bill to allow sales on Sunday every time it comes up (which is often). They claim that as small businesses they can't afford to be open that extra day a week, and that it would only help grocery stores since they're staffed on Sundays regardless. I say it sounds like a load of bull to me.

I would think that it would help small businesses to have an extra day of sales, but what do I know. It always seemed like a bad idea to me to prohibit Sunday sales, as it forces people that might otherwise drink in the safety of their own homes, if they could purchase alcohol, out onto the roads to go to bars leading to more drunk driving. It makes me thankful for Maine's liquor laws and the fact that we can by liquor until 1am 7 days a week.

Quoted for truth. If they don't want to open Sundays, let the other stores handle it.

That was the same line they used here before Sunday sales finally happened. It's been a few years now and no one has gone out of business.

Exactly. What it comes down to is they like their Sundays off. I say adapt to meet the consumers needs or get out of the business.

I just looked up where Brooklyn, CT is. I didn't realize it was so close to Quahog-land. I somehow thought you lived closer to I-91.

I gotta go out and empty my car from yesterday's New Hampshire haul. Four 1.75ml bottles of Mount Gay, Myers's Dark, & Stoli, a case of wine I had shipped from California to New Hampshire since you can't ship wine to either Massholia or Vermont, 2 1/2 cases of beer, and a case of hard cider.
