I have a Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector...now out of warranty and wont power up...i have it hardwired in both cars and nothing...so its not the car, it must be the unit....even when i plug it in via the cig adaper, the light on the adapter lights up, but the radar unit will not pwr on...

any suggestions?

Sounds like there's a fault between your inverter and the heterodyne. I'd prep it up with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads.

It could be a multitude of things. The first thing I would check is to see if the socket that you plug it into isn't worn out. Try wiggling the plug around to see if the unit will turn on. Aside from that, unless there is a fuse inside the unit, you're probably out of luck.
