Factors you should include are everything from amount of days you've been out, how you felt those days, the conditions, the winter itself, those sort of things.

I rate mine a 9. I've been out 11 times so far which is above average for me. Other than the first couple of weeks of December, the conditions have been excellent. The reason it's a 9 is becase I haven't been north enough yet. I've only skiied elsewhere than Wachusett once this year. Last year, I had been out of state 3 times by now. Also, it's only looking like I'll get north 2 or 3 more times this year.

I rated mine a 5. Skied from the start of the season at Killington up until 12/18. If I just counted this time, I'd give it an 8 or nine. Except on the 18th had an accident and that put me out of commision for 5 weeks. Not too bad considering the conditions for the past 5 weeks. Went back this past weekend and it was great!! Got in 10 days so far, they were all good. But cause of that 5 week period, lowered my rating. I'm sure it'll only get better from here

A 9 for me too. I've been out nine days so far which is also above average for me. I've had some damn good days so far, with only one that I would say was kinda lame (Day 1 at Jiminy in the fog and rain). I've also been putting in longer days with a number of 6+ hour days.

I expect the second half of the ski season to be a 10 with at least 15 more days planned, including MRG, Sugarbush, Cannon, Loon and Sugarloaf as definites. I'd also like to try to hit Burke, Sunapee and Magic.

5 - I've skied as much as every season, but when Feb. is staring you in the face and mountains are still less the 100% open, it is not a good year. I love the trees and that has been sadly lacking. I have a feeling winter weather has turned around and we'll start opening terrain that depends on natural snow.

Hey better do Burke, you're planning a trip :)

I know. I know. But the March 5 date that is winning the poll may not work out for me. The 4th is better and I may go then anyway as I know some folks going will be in the area for more than one day so maybe a pre-gathering is a possibility...

I think I may have a 10 by the end of the season too. Cannon, Loon, and Okemo are definites with Killington, Sunapee, Jiminy, and Berkshire East as possibilities. I got to see Sugarloaf for my first time on MLK weekend, but I was snowmobiling so I didn't have my skis. We were also 7 miles from Saddleback which looks decent.

Also going for the 10 is the weather. AccuWeather.com claims February will be much like January here and next week's storm looks like a good start.

5 for me. i have clocked more days on the slopes than any previous season to date so far. although quantity has been high, quality has been low generally. out of my three best days of the season, two of them i earned turns for and the third was just this past weekend at MRG as the weather pattern started to change.

my 5 rating would be a lot lower if not for some highlights: okay bumps early in the season on free days at kmart, hiking for great powder late in november, skinning the sherbie for nice natural snow last month, and this past weekend at mrg. most other days have been making the most of blah conditions that do not inspire epic thoughts in my mind. also i think back to last year early season with the epic powder dumps of december for which i would have ranked the early season a solid 8+ and the current year pales in comparison to date with exception of this past weekend which i am including in the second half of the season.

I voted a 6. Would have been much lower if we did not have a few real cold snaps for snow making. The lack of Natural snow in the White's the biggest negitive. Biggest positive 29 days out so far and my kids are really into it this year.. Weather has not stopped me from going any day.

I rated a 4. The quantity (20 days), has helped make up for the quality. Other than 3 powder days at Cannon (12/20), Stowe (1/25) and MRG (1/26), it's been a lot of machine groomed.

My official song for the '04-'05 season: "Got to get better in a little while" (Derek and the Dominos)

NoVT has had a lot of 1-2" farts (smells like a dump, lacks the substance). They have added up. A real storm would do them good.

I voted 4. December was pretty much a wash and until two weeks ago, it had rained every week during this season (or lack of season). I've lost a fair number of ski days due to rain and other weather related issues. So, I'm behind about 5-10 days.

The positives include excellent service at our home hill--they've worked hard and blown a lot of snow. The snowmaking has been good. Loon was great. January started out pretty good, but the thaw two weeks ago hurt. This last snowstorm was great...but the snow is in the wrong place. Oh well--beggers can't be choosers

I still have a lot to look forward to...a full WEEK at Sunday River, Burke with fellow AZer's, Sugarbush tomorrow (even though the fr%^*&n Slidebrook Chair will not be running!) and eventually meeting Greg and some of you.

A lowly 2. My home mountain is Whiteface and the warm/freezing cycle hasn’t helped. We have not had a major storm so natural snow is hard to find. Whiteface is also having trouble making snow due to a spillway they put in the Ausable River that has created a slush problem. The result is that when it’s really cold the slush reduces the amount of snow they can make. I hate to whine and I really love Whiteface but they are having a tough year. I’m hoping things will improve as the season goes on. I did get down to Gore yesterday and the conditions were fantastic. Powder everywhere and the best day of skiing so far this year. Plus I have only 23 days on the mountain which is half what I should have by now.

From Science Quotes from Kids:

“Water freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees. There are 180 degrees between freezing and boiling because there are 180 degrees between north and south.”

There's nothing like Eric Clapton for the drive to the mountain! I especially enjoy cranking up the original version of Layla as I pull into the parking lot. LLLLLAAAAAAYYYYLA....

rate your season

A 5 so far. Got in some early season skiing at Sunday river, but all the rain and ice, along with putting my back out has slowed me down. Only 23 days so far, but things are looking up. A few small storms have helped, as well as lots of snowmaking. The back is on the mend, so it is looking up for the rest of the season!!!!
