STOWE, VT — Snowy weather and consistent snowmaking temperatures have blanketed Stowe Mountain Resort with the white stuff needed to accelerate operations and triple the amount of open skiing and riding terrain.

The winter weather that's currently unique to Stowe, has enabled the resort to open its cross country ski center and numerous more alpine trails. Resort officials are also planning to open the high-speed Gondola and more trails later this week.

Today Stowe had over 20 trails and 13 miles of open terrain. Snow is in the forecast almost every day for the next ten, so stay tuned to www.stowe.com for daily updates.

It was snowing Friday when I got there, there was about 1 1/2" to 2 1/2 " then. There was light, wet, snow all day Saturday, it snowed some Saturday night as well, for another 2-3". Sunday, it snowed all day as well(light snow). Last night it snowed about 2" of light fluffy powder at the hotel. I did not go to the mountain today, but when I left Stowe at about 11 am it was snowing heavily. I stayed in heavy snow until Brookfield, VT and then it tapered off and I hit ocassional flurries.
