RIP - Les Paul 1915-2009

NEW YORK - Les Paul, who invented the solid-body electric guitar later wielded by a legion of rock 'n' roll greats, died Thursday of complications from pneumonia. He was 94. According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

He was the forefather of rock music and pretty much all modern day recording....as he invented the multi-track mixer as well as the electric guitar. Quite sad...but hey he lived a long, productive life well into his 90's.

GSS, I bet his estate has a big 'ol pile of $$, you should go look them up and work out selling a big 'ol guitar shaped piece of stone to them!

I am in shock i will most definitely give my Les Paul Standard a gentle play in this giants memory .

That guitar is by far the sweetest fattest sound in rock. Jimmy Page used to blow me away when he played that puppy with Zep . I effin luved the time he "bowed" the axe with a violin bow.

He was a close friend of my ex-wife's mother's husband. Guitar pioneer, yes.....pretty much a prick, though.
