Most season passes are non-refundable, making them a "use-it-or-lose-it" proposition. Now, however, a skier can protect his/her investment in a season pass against loss of use due to unexpected medical reasons. In addition, emergency evacuation insurance up to $15,000 is provided in this special package. The cost is 6% of the season pass price. Many ski resorts market SkierGuard with season passes; others refer passholders to www.skierguard.com where coverage may be purchased by itself online.

years ago when i broke my sacrum, my local hill was nice enough to give me a pro-rated refund on the remainder of the season. Since i was injured early season, i was more than pleased with the refund I received.

My girl messed up her foot last year and Hunter gave her a credit for this year...

I've also heard of Hunter giving partial credit as well...

But you gotta have a Dr.s note....

So... not interested...

most mountains will give you at least a credit for a pass the following year if just show them a doctors note. there really isn't any reason for insurance. after my first knee surgery i went to bolton one night took a few runs and my knee was throbbing they were cool and gave me a refund.

Wachusett offered insurance for very short money about two or three seasons ago. They still might.

My experience with Wa....it's who you know.

I've received "policy" responses in some cases (not pass related), raised the issue and resolved it.

The nice thing about "policy"....there are "exceptions to policy". :>

I'm sure there are some places that are "too corporate" to see the benefit of treating customers with compassion.

I'm thinking if I had a pass to Killington or Stowe..or Stratton, I'd need insurance if I wanted the security.

Places like Sundown, Butternut, Wachusett up to places maybe like Wildcat and the like, you're more likely to be the familiar face they want to see back (healthy) next season.

Your mileage may vary.
