Can anyone offer up a good description of what to expect at Shawnee Peak? Heading there for a quick day trip from Portland.

Welcome to the forum, dmalm8. Might I suggest that you visit the Ski Area Profile Pages on our site? I can say that it is a nice place to ski and mainly a local place...haven't been, but it is on my "to do" list.

I've been there. I found it to be quite boring, with nothing steep. The back side of the hill is pretty.

Shawnee Peak aka Pleasant Mountain is no Jackson Hole but offers some good intermediate and beginner trails. They make a lot of snow, groom a lot and have a decent lift system. There is a lot of night skiing at Shawnee and I imagine the place makes some decent cash flows. It makes for an excellent escape for some skiing from the Portland area.

On weekends, get there early and park at the east lodge. Much less confusion and kids running around. Ski the sunnyside chair and trails early, and then head over to the main side. Nothing real difficult, but some nice cruising runs with excellent views. Night skiing is a lot of fun on reasonably warm nights also. They have done an excellent job with snowmaking and grooming this year. I average 3 or 4 days a week there, and don't get bored with it. Have fun and enjoy it!!!!!!!!!

Monday Night Madness

Monday Night madness at Shawnee Peak
Ski or ride from 4-9pm every Monday for just $10. Includes Holiday Mondays!

you cant beat their monday night deal. its as cheep as renting a couple of videos..
there usualy isnt much of a crowd there on monday nights so the lines are short. and there is a lot of terrain under the lights to ski.

They have the park and a lot of beginner and intermediate trails open under the lights. I highly recomend it.
