the pic has "Giro-Italia" embedded in the name so it sounds like its in Italy somewhere

Giro d'Italia - Tour of Italy, no? The Tour de France's little brother.

Yes, the Giro. And I suppose you can call it the Tour's little brother...but .. The Giro is one of the three Grand Tours....21 days across mountains, cobbles, dirt....etc...but you get to be in Italy instead of France... Some might consider that better.

To answer SIKSkier's pleasantly posed questions...it is from today's 16th Stage of the Giro which is from: S. Vigilio di Marebbe → Plan de Corones. Ending at the top of the ski area located there.

Here it is on Google Earth..you can see that there are ski slopes on almost all sides of the mountain:

Here is the stage profile..its a TT and there is a 24% grade.... that is crazy:

That elevation chart practically has my legs burning and me gasping for breath just looking at it! :eek:
