I was like that also for a long time but a couple of powder days forced me to switch my back foot forward .. coming off that experince, I spent several days experimenting with different forward angles .. by the end of the season, I switched back to my old duck stance to see what it felt like. One run was all it took to prove to me my new stance angles were perfect for me..

i hear ya, i do like to be able to go switch though.

you guys never ride switch? i am not just talking about in the park, but in the trees the ability to ride switch competently comes in handy.

i can switch in trees for a short period of time - I can't cruise fast comfortably...

You make yourself look silly. Going through tight areas in the trees, switch comes in real handy. Also. getting through some sketch, rocky terrain.

Where are you?

we tweek it as the season progresses and depending on conditions. This year I've kept them slightly open-toed on both as it makes it easier to ride switch. man, i miss winter!!

I ride G 18 / 12 or something... angle on both feet... Riding switch isn't important compare to tweaking a knee and putting pressure on your joints as the "duck" stance puts on your knees... And still, i'm able to ride bumps switch... but then again, i prefer riding "normally" in pow... and with a heavily tapered board, it's almost impossible riding switch!

angles

Jerry,

I experiment a bit and set up duck when I'm teaching how to ride switch as I find it easier for directional control but for the most part I have both bindings oriented forward at a pretty high angle. It's still nowhere close to the angles on my race boards but I prefer carving to sliding and even on a softboot setup like the angles fairly high.

i have no issues carving with a "duck" stance. my buddy got 6th in the nation in GS rides duck no problem on a regular board and blows away those in race stance and race boards.

(edit: and spandex)
