I need your help! I am a snowboarder from Norway, so I am not familiar with the skiing places here. I'm staying here just for the year. But really I want to go snowboarding. Is there any public transportation that can take me to any of the resorts in the area? Please help me!

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum, Anna. I moved your question to the skiing/riding forum where you might get some more visibility

The public transportation here is not like it is in Europe.
I would say that your best bet would be to check the information boards and brochure racks at a local ski shop. There are local ski clubs that sponsor trips. You could likely get public transportation to the meeting site for the club trips or a member close by to pick you up
P.S. I just got back from a trip to Killington with a friend who lives in Philly who worked at two mountains in Norway. PM me and maybe I can hook the two of you up.

You will not find public transportation to any ski areas, pretty much anywhere in the US, like you would in Europe. You can join, at a ski shop, a group that takes buses to a ski area on the weekends. You are too late in the year for that now, though. That being said, your best bet for skiing/riding near Philly is to go to Elk Mountain, it is outside Scranton, PA, probably 2.5 hours or so away. I would not recommend Blue Mtn., Montage, Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Bear Creek or some of the other places that are a little closer, I just don't think they are as nice. Compared to Europe, you'll be greatly disappointed, but if you want a little more of a trip, go up to Vermont and ski Stowe. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'm from PA so I know these areas well.

Elk or bust

Been to Elk and blue mt. in the area. Elk wins hands down. Great terrain, decent lifts and not overly expensive. Have fun

Anna, Here is an idea.
Fly to Salt Lake City for under $200. round trip on Jet Blue airlines. Salt Lake City, Utah is where there is the best powder and they have public transportation. For $1.40 in transfers take a Bus and Train from airport to Days Inn 7251 South 300 West, Midvale, Utah 84047 phone 801 566 6677.
Call the Days Inn and get one of their ski packagage deals that includes lodging, lift ticket, and bus transportation to/from Snowbird ski area for $70 per day. Now you can ski on the best snow in North America. Note you can not snowboard at Alta ski area.

This Days Inn is right next the bus station that will take you to Snowbird. It is also next to the train station that can take you into Salt Lake City for diner and entertainment at night.

For public transportation information in Salt Lake City , UTAH see -->

Here is the train TRAX map where you can see 7200 South Midvale station next to Days Inn. -->http://www.rideuta.com/schedulesAndMaps/systemMaps/TRAXmap.pdf

Here is the map of the ski routes -->http://www.rideuta.com/schedulesAndMaps/systemMaps/SkiMap.pdf

Enjoy,
