On the east coast, ropes are usually up for a reason. Out here, it means avalanche terrain and on one end you can lose your pass or be criminally charged. On the other end, you could die or kill someone by causing an avalanche. Solitude has had a lot of issues with folks ducking ropes. Don't do it.
