Thinking of going to Stratton weekend of 3/31 with my 7 year old daughter. I know that Stratton may not be the most popular resort on this board but I was offered a weekend at a reasonable price (although non-refundable).

Judging from this winter/spring how should conditions be by the end of the month? Or more importantly, HISTORICALLY how is Southern Vermont in early spring?

I want to go away that weekend and I know that Northern Vermont would probably have better snow. Coming from NJ I just wanted to avoid a long drive.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Marc

It should be fine depending on the weather. They will probably have lost some trails but most of the mountain should be good. The problem with that time of the season is crappy weather ie 70 degrees or rain or both, which you can't tell what it will be untill shortly beforehand. I say if the price is right go for it.

The crappy weather is when you have 70 degrees, rain, and then the temps go back to the 20's!

Thanks for all the replies. I will have to tell my duaghter not to tell on daddy if he is checking out the bikini clad skiers!!!

Do you think Killington or Stowe would be that much better condition wise on 3/31? Again I need to pay for the Stratton trip now and the $300 is non-refundable.

Thanks,

Marc

Well...it's 3 weeks away, and who knows with "spring" skiing...

5 years ago I went to smuggs and go there on a staurday...and it rained...it rained from saturady to Thrusday...non stop...

The next 4 years in a row...I had mid winter conditions

March 31st is a Thursday...what's the $300 include?

If it's just the 2 of you...I'd check out Killington and the summit hotel....

I'm in West Orange and the Big K is a quick shot up 280 to 287 North to the thruway...4 hours dead on to Rutland...

Stratton's ok...guess you have to stay in the village to really like the place...Mt Snow was more fun...

Anyone know when the reggae festivale at snow is happening this year?

That was a blast....

The Stratton trip is $300 and includes 2 days lift tickets for both of us and two nights lodging. I actually priced the Killington Grand Hotel and it was like $275 for lodging alone.

I promised my daughter an outdoor heated pool and there are not that many in New England! I guess this is a western thing!!
