STOWE, VT - For more than 30 years, Spyro Gyra has remained at the forefront of the modern jazz world. Their music has been called funky, groovy, soulful, smooth and often summed up in one word; fusion. This Friday, June 24 at 8pm, the five-piece jazz ensemble plays at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, Vermont's most intimate, high-quality and spectacular live music venue. Tickets are online at www.sprucepeakarts.org or available at the box office, 802-760-4634.

"Aside from one of the most amazing live shows in instrumental music and killer songs, Spyro Gyra endures as an audience favorite because they created an original style that sounded like nothing that came before it," - Art Good, Jazz Trax

Founded in the mid-70′s by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein, Spyro Gyra had its breakthrough success with 1979′s "Morning Dance," whose title track became a Top 40 single. With over 25 albums released (their most recent was Down the Wire in 2009) and 10 million copies sold, Spyro Gyra is one of the most prolific, as well as commercially successful groups of the modern jazz genre.
