STOWE, Vermont -- Stowe Mountain Resort has decided to officially extend winter until the end of April. Up to 89" inches of snow has fallen on Vermont's highest peak in the past two weeks. That's a record-breaker for April, if you're keeping score, and forecasts predict that the snowstorms aren"t over yet. Stowe's new projected closing date this ski season is now set for 4pm on Sunday April 29.

"There are three big reasons why we're extending Stowe's season," exclaimed Michael Colbourn, VP of Marketing and Sales. "We have a lot of snow, thousands of pass-holders and we're in the ski & ride business, so let's keep skiing & riding." Colbourn explained.

After an uninspiring beginning to winter that was highlighted by sixty degree temperatures in early January, snowfall amounts at Stowe Mountain Resort have since skyrocketed to over 374" inches. That amount already exceeds Stowe's annual average of 333".
