Hi, I learned to ski as an adult and have been skiing a few days each season for about 10 years. I took lessons when I first learned, but I’m not sure if I picked up some bad habits or never fully learned ideal form. I’m very comfortable on green runs but still feel uncomfortable on anything more advanced, especially in less than perfect conditions. My kids are now picking up skiing and will probably surpass me soon, so I’d like to take some lessons to improve and keep up with them as long as I can. I also occasionally take trips that include skiing in Europe, where the terrain tends to be more advanced, so I’d like to feel more confident in those conditions as well.
I’m looking for advice on whether group or private lessons would be better for someone at my level, and which mountains close to central or northern New Jersey would be best for this. I work during the week, and weekends are busy but are the only time I can go, so staying relatively close is important. I’m considering places like Shawnee, Mountain Creek, and Blue Mountain, but I’m not sure if there’s a general consensus on which is best for adult improvement lessons, or if I’m overlooking any good options.
I want to make sure the time and money spent actually lead to progress. Thanks for any recommendations.
