Trip Report:

Hit Sunday River for a couple days during the vacation week. After digging out in Boston, we were attracted by SR reporting 18" of fresh snow by Monday afternoon! We found a slopeside condo on craigslist and hit the trails by Wednesday morning.
We searched the whole mountain for the reported 18" of snow. Where were they hiding it? It had to be somewhere! It might have been in any of the glades trails that were roped off. Or maybe in a terrain park? Seriously, where was it?
I'm assuming the winds wreaked havoc on Tuesday. It was still very windy on Wednesday morning, most everything that was exposed and/or above 2500' was blown off. Still, things lower on the mountain were very nice. Lots of PP with a few patches of exposed ice in high traffic areas. SR did a nice job grooming and things were nicer Thursday morning, lots of corduroy.
We skied most of the mountain, probably did trails off Barker the most. Jordan was nice, but got crowded early. Oz had only one trail open - Lost Princess/Tin Woodsman - the rest of Oz was still mostly grass.
It wasn't quite the conditions we expected, but SR did a great job with what mother nature has given them so far. We had a great time and looking forward to the next trip already.
Camera battery died, but I attached a cell phone pic from atop Jordan.
