NEWRY, Maine — The Freeskier Trilogy Tour makes a stop at Sunday River Feb. 12-13, in the second of three stops that also include American Skiing Company resorts Killington and Mount Snow.
The event is open to skiers and snowboarders and features Big Air, Pipe Jam, and Budweiser Rail Jam competitions with prize money for first, second, and third place winners in each event, totaling a series cash purse of $25,000. For each discipline - big air, pipe jam, and rail jam - a maximum of 45 athletes will compete in the semi-pro category and a maximum 45 athletes will compete in the pro category. An awards ceremony will conclude each event, honoring the top five finishers in all four categories: semi-pro male and female, and pro male and female.
Sunday River hosts its event in conjunction with the 10th Annual New England Freeride Championships. The event will include the Semi-Pro and Pro Jam Saturday at the Barker Mountain Superpipe, as well as the Budweiser Rail Jam with Semi-Pro and Pro Jams slopeside at White Cap Base Lodge. Registration is 8 to 9:30 am Saturday and Sunday at the Barker Base Lodge and the day is capped with the Budweiser Rocks the River concert with the Boston-based band, The Adam Ezra Group.
Sunday, the Big Air competition is in the freestyle arena at the Rocking Chair Super Park. The event features Semi-Pro and Pro sessions. Registration is 8 am to 10 am at the Barker Base Lodge.
Mount Snow Resort (West Dover, VT) hosts the final weekend of the Trilogy Tour with the Budweiser Anti-Gravity Grail March 5-6. The competition schedule will include the Pipe Jam, Saturday March 5 at the SoBe Superpipe at Carinthia, followed by the Budweiser Rail Jam at the Video Hill Main Face. Raw footage from the day's event will replay at the Snowbarn Glow Party Saturday night, and competitors over age 21 will have free entry to the party. Sunday, March 6, the Big Air Competition will kick off at Video Hill.
The first stop was at Killington in January at the Bear Mountain Terrain Park.
Online registration at Freeskier.com is open to male and female professional and semi-pro skiers and riders ages 14 and over. Registration fees are $50 for male pro events, $40 for male semi-pro events, $40 for female pro events, and $30 for female semi-pro events. Special rates apply for multi-event registration. Participants may also register on-site the day of the event for an additional $10.
