Swiss wrap glacier to slow ice melt

GEMSSTOCK, Switzerland (Reuters) -- Alarmed by the retreat of its Alpine glacier, a Swiss ski resort on Tuesday wrapped part of the shrinking ice-cap in a giant blanket in a bid to reduce the summer melt..

The article about the icecap on Mnt Kilimanjaro is kind of sad. Since 1912, 82% of the icecap on the mountain has melted and this is ice that is 12,000 years old

I have read that the Swiss are not just concerned about their melting glaciers, but also with the thawing of permafrost that supports alot of the ski lift pylons in the higher regions of the Alps.

have you seen alaska with the perma frost, houses are colasping and roads are destoyed, global warming gets me so mad :angry: . On another note i was watching this show on nation geographic station( anyone who doesnt have it should get it) that talked about that there has been warm times like this in the worlds history and they screwed up the flow of the oceans and jet streams and caused in ice age. but on another note it was one of those crazy doom and gloom shows and you know how those are. Any i just though that was interesting... come on mini ice age, 10 degree drop would be nice, tux would be a glacier!
