Some love it, some hate it.

Me, dont care for the holiday at all....hanging around all day for 1 meal, which i only have 1 plate as i'm not a big eater and dont really do sweets...i see all my family on a regular basis so there's no one coming in that i havent seen in months or years....i dont like watching football and hate being inside...wait all day to eat, usually done with that my 6-630...now what?

I am pretty much indifferent. I like having the day off from work, enjoy getting together with my family, and like watching football. However, we also get together with my wife's family, which isn't so much fun. I have never understood the hype about the Thanksgiving meal either, and actually find it pretty boring.

My family is scattered so it's truly a homecoming...

I love seeing all of them!

I'm going to make a pie...

Now that we have kids I have had a rebirth of my love for T-Giving and X-Mas. The big challenge this year is that I have lost 25 lbs in the last 8 weeks. Hoping I can keep my binge eating to a reasonable level next week!

Good luck with that!

I always go into Thanksgiving saying I'm not going to eat as much as last year. That hasn't happened yet...

Congrats on the weight loss...I've also shed some pounds (close to 15) in the past several weeks, mainly from getting out and running at least 3x a week and some reasonable portion control. Main plan I have is to either sign up for a 5K run in the morning (there are 2 near home) or at least get out for my 3.5 mi run that day. I'm actually hoping that the cutting back means I won't binge as much...also on the days I run I usually don't have as much of an appetite.

Go skiing maybe if Hunter would start making snow, and have family dinner around 6.

Best holiday of the bunch , totally devoid of crass commercialism .

We annually host the entire extended family at our home for the period they come from greater Boston, Manhattan and other points along the east coast . We have a great time and really enjoy a very relaxing holiday .

Wash rinse and repeat and do the whole thing again for the entire Christmas holiday . It costs a few bucks to feed 12 people and have them in the house for extended periods but its the BEST family time of the yr . We have done this now for damn near 48 yrs , even when we were first married and in our early 20's we hosted BOTH side of the family for both holiday periods

Our grand kids love it and we all get to ski together sometimes at Thanksgiving and Christmas , but not t day this year dammit .... No snow

so lots of other games for the guys and the girls will do the Black Friday gig together

I know... easier said than done. T-Giving dinner is great. But its the booze and appetizer type stuff that kills me.

Overall I have been satisfied and not having cravings the majority of the time. But on Tues. and Thurs. after the weight room I can eat the house. At least now I am crushing lean protein and vegg instead of pizza and burgers. :)

Don't stress it too much. I was in the middle of losing weight last year at this time. I certainly ate/drank a lot more than I had been but not as much as I used to eat/drink on Thanksgivnig and I gained a pound which was gone by the end of the weekend. Enjoy the day.

Simple now, my wife's family has been going out to a restaurant the last few years. Works well since nobody is stuck with the massive prep, dinner and cleanup.

My wife and I do our own "Thanksgiving" dinner later in the weekend so we can cook what we like. Hopefully this year we'll be at our place at Mount Snow so we can be skiing too.

Thanksgiving is the only holiday I can really get behind with full appreciation. It is about family, food, and taking a moment to appreciate what you have rather than dwelling on what you don't. Since we bought a home a few years back, we've really come to enjoy hosting for many reasons but especially for the leftovers. But no hosting this year, very small gathering away from home.

I personally hate thanksgiving. One of my least favorite days of the year. For starters I dont like the food. I am not very close to my family as well. My parents are both significantly younger than their siblings, and I was born when they were "older". I am 26, and the next youngest cousin is around 35, so not much in common.

Last year my parents decided to go on a trip to Aruba, so I was able to skip the festivities. Sat at home and cooked a good steak and watched tv!

If it was only for the family member-thing of the past I think I'd have gotten bored with it decades ago, but now that we get out early in the day for either bare-ground or snowcover hiking or somekind of off-resort skiing, the dinner-thing...later on, followed by a food-walk-off hike...works out for a really nice day, no matter what the weather.
