A-Basin and Loveland are usually the first resorts in the nation to open.

Loveland also started the guns last night.

it's gotta be nice to have a base elevation of 11000 ft.

True dat, but did you ever notice when you pass Loveland I-87 seems to keep ascending?

It seems like Breck, Copper, A-basin, etc. all should have higher base elevation.

Huh? You pass Loveland, you enter the Eisenhower Tunnel. That tunnel crosses UNDER the Continental Divide. From there you go down, down, down...Dillon & Silverthorne next exit on I-70.

Really? My bad. I've done it 5 times too. It always seemed to me when we drove back from the Breck area to ski Loveland or MJ we where going down. I have a terrible sense for direction, so like I said my bad.

The altitude is great for the snow making, but sure sets those "flatlanders" to huffin and puffin when they fly in!

Taos, Ski Apache and Ski Santa Fe usually get me going at 10,000' @ the base. I can only imagine how much more that would suck out of me. At least in NM and Salt Lake UT you can ski high and sleep low. I find that that's a big help for someone like me from Sea Level.

Nice to see some action. I'll be happier when it's in our neighborhood.

You're better off sleeping high too..After a day or 2, the skiing wont' feel so high. (as in altitude, you guys...)Skiing always makes me feel high)

Jackson Hole treats me right since the base and town is around 6k and the summit is a little over 10k..I hiked Mount Umcompadre in the San Juans a few years back and that was my one and only time above 14k and that was rough..
