The Herminator retires

Damn! The Herminator had a seriously great career! Overcame some serious injuries. Won some serious hardware. And will always be remembered for his crash in the DH during the Nagano Olympics :eek:



And then he skied in the next event a day or 2 later!

I think I'll have to hoist a pint to Herman this evening and find a cowbell to ring. Because in my memories of WC racing, he's right up there with the legendary likes of Stenmark, Mahre, Tomba, Zubriggen, Giardelli, Aamodt, Kjus, Miller and these days Raich!

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!! The guy pre motorcycle , accident was simply unstoppable.A ferocious competitor who simply took no prisoners . Love em or hate em you got to salute Both his courage and his performance .

That's a neat clip. He was fortunate that both skis released and nothing brought him to a sudden stop.

Crazy that he almost had part of his leg amputated. Talk about a comeback.
