BRETTON WOODS, NH — The December 2004 issue of Condé Nast Traveler named The Mount Washington Resort at Bretton Woods number 10 in its "Top 50 Ski Resorts in North America."
The magazine's ninth annual reader's poll "sussed out the worthiest ski digs on the continent" as deemed by its readers. "To be recognized in this way is a major accomplishment for us at The Mount Washington Resort," says Resort Marketing Director Chip Steward. "As the only Eastern resort to make the top 10, it is evident that the discerning traveler recognizes the superb quality of experience here."
Condé Nast readers were asked to evaluate 212 North American properties that they had visited in the past three years. Properties were rated on seven criteria: Terrain and Conditions, Lifts and Lines, Location, Accommodations, Service, Dining/Food, and Other Facilities. Among those criteria, The Mount Washington Resort at Bretton Woods was ranked fourth overall for Dining/Food. The Hotel's elegant dining room has received the prestigious AAA Four-Diamond Rating and the DiRōNA Award of Excellence. Earlier this year, the Dining Room also received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for its fine selection of wines.
The magazine also notes Bretton Woods' recent base lodge expansion. A multi-year, multi-million dollar expansion of the Bretton Woods 30-year old base lodge was completed in time for the start of the 2003/2004-ski season. With a 57 percent increase in seating and a 30 percent increase in overall floor space, the new 58,000-square foot facility was designed with comfort and convenience in mind.
