Great. Waterville is one of my favorites for early season skiing. They make a lot of snow and they take care to thoroughly cover any trails they open.

In the past early season I have done one day at Waterville one day at Loon to get a little variety. Waterville has alot of off snow activites in the town I spend more time doing that than skiiing there... with athe Asc Bronze pass I think I will do Waterville less, but great for kids 1 base area easy to keep track of everyone. The extra elevation does help them blow a good amount of snow early.

interesting that they are blowing down bottom in addition to up top. last year i was there for early season on the high country double which is the slowest lift i have ever ridden on with up/down loading on the highspeed quad. a solid top to bottom run off the high speed quad will be a much better way to open for WV.

Yeah, personally I don't bother with pre-season skiing if it's as weak as skiing only under the High Country double. I give Waterville a couple weeks to cover more terrain and present me with some quality skiing.

I have done the high country run a few times when that has been the only option. It gets boring real quick and the line builds up. long line short run not a good mix. I would prefer top to botton as would everyone. I'll go during Thankxgiving weekend, maybe sunday the 21st if top to bottom is open, If not i'll stay at Sunday River.

As a season pass holder, I usually wait until after Thanksgiving to ski. Riding up and down on the quad doesn't do it for me.

I take the other approach, Having a season pass means I ski in the am and head back and watch football in the early after noon early season.
No guilt about wasting the money of an adult ticket not to mention kids tickets if they join me. but very short day with just high country.

I usually take the week off from work between Christmas and New Years and ski WV. I will ski from 8:00am to about 1:00pm and head back to the house and relax for the rest of the day. Between 8:00am and 10:00am you have a "mommy window" where all the mommies are getting the kids ready so the lift lines are short and you can get in 75% of your runs during that time.

My wife gets the kids going unless my son wants to go early it happens sometimes. I bring an lug all the gear she(( just)) lugs the kids. (I'm lucky)

I just got back from Tecumseh, my final hike for this season.

High Country is pretty much skiable as of yesterday and the mtn ops were tinkering on the lift.

As for the rest of the mountain, the guns are out and ready to go. The lines are all set...not much snowmaking had been done from the top of the hs quad to the bottom. Some snowboarders were in the beginning of the park area.

I was at Tecumseh yesterday as well; high country looks to be in fine shape. If it stays cold, perhaps they'll be able to run top-to-bottom by opening day, if not I'm sure they will by Thanksgiving.

That new "street hubba" at the bottom of the park is pretty wild looking; however, as part of the 40+ crowd, I'll stick to Little Slammer :D

I was down in the locker room yesterday morning, they've put in a new floor and improved the drainage and installed a bunch of TVs.

I agree with the other WV posters, I usually try and get in a couple of early runs with my daughter before she heads to Seasonals, best snow, no lines. Last season, my wife and I were spending increasing amounts of time in the Schwendi Hutte in the PM!!!!

You know you run a hot board when someone can post a topic about a mountain, and just days later first-hand, pre-season reports are coming in. Congratulations Greg and the great members. This is going to be a great season for the board.
