  • An appreciation (almost preference) for cold weather
  • Confidence
  • Time for myself
  • Knowledge that even if I hurt myself, fear shouldn't deter me from at least trying
  • Lots of great friends!!!
  • Travel
  • Quality time with Brian, from time to time

While the partially torn ACL was also gained from skiing, it's actually opened up some new things for me. It was in talking to my PT that I realized I actually could run, in spite of my injury. (He is a runner, not a skier.) So that injury allowed me to become a little more well-rounded in my activities.

A love of winter
Good Health
Friends
Sanity(some would argue that one)
Confidence

More than anything, I spent a lot more time with my niece and nephew while they were growing up because I was the cool aunt that took them skiing. That time is priceless!!!

A love of the outdoors and especially winter
Lots of good friends
Quality family time, some of my fondest memories of childhood involve skiing, riding the lifts with my parents and now the opportunity to share that with another generation...got out on the hill with my wife, mother and 2yr old daughter last winter
A career
Tons of travel and a lifetime of experiences
An addiction

Countless numbers of great memories, trips to many wonderful places, a second home, many great friends, and incredible joy especially these last couple of seasons as I've gotten to watch my kids pick up the sport!

Something to do in the winter....all the time.
An addiction.
Traveled all over the country and parts of the world.
Lots of cool pictures, stories to tell.
Met a lot of people.
And unfortunately a contributing factor...to a divorce.

An even greater appreciation of the outdoors.
A preference for cold weather (moving North to retire some day).
A great hobby/sport I can do for a lifetime, hopefully with my kids soon.
A reason to get the F#*% out of Dodge when the home life gets to be too much!
Motivation to swim and stay in shape all year.
A necessary distraction to think about when too much stress creeps into my life (daily)
A new found love of bumps, and another skill to develop.

, that first taste of beer after a hard day on the hill.

Beer tastes alot better after skiing than it would for me right now..and it goes down so quick...:beer::beer: I love killing two pitchers with my friend Tom at the Mangy Moose..or a couple pints at the Shed..with some bearded VT hippies..

That's the one problem with those hippy chicks up in Vermont, huh, steeze? They have hairy chins! ;)

As for what I've gained from skiing.....It's just one huge aspect of my life. I've been skiing as long as I have any memories. It's an awesome family sport....My Dad taught me and I'm now "paying it foward" so to speak and am teaching my girls!

I travel and see the U.S. (so far, hopefully the world soon enough!) participating in my favorite activity with friends and family. Powder days at Alta. Eating dinner at the Goldminer's and looking outside and seeing the flakes falling.....with that amazing anticipation in my stomach of what tomorrow will bring..
