*spin off wallet, ie capital one commercial*

It's probably been asked before.....I'm sure, but figured I'd bring it up while dreaming of my next adventure with gravity during the season to come.

So, what do you ride and why do you love em?

My sticks:

2002 184 Rossi Bandit Single X - love em' for their versatility - great in the bumps, but still a decent carving ski at speed on packed snow.

1998 (?) Rossi Axiom 183 - I'm not sure of the year, but my buddy is a Rossi Rep and sold these at $100 a pair back in the epic winter of 2000 - 2001. They were a few years old at the time, hence the cheap price. They pre-dated parabolic techonology but the price was right and it seemed like EVERYONE in Stowe picked up a pair. Til this day I see MANY people still riding them on Mansfield. They will take you anywhere off piste wise like an old jeep willy.

Boots: Dolomite Sintesi 8.5 - The thing I love about these boots is the '5th' buckle. I have a very wide and flat forefoot, but rather narow ankles and calves. For years I skied Lange's that were a half size large on me to accomadate my forefoot yet still feel solid around my ankles and calves. The fifth buckle on the Dolomite finally allowed me to wear a boot that I could feel snug in the ankle and not swim in the forefoot.

So what's in your wallet/closet?

I ski on Volkl 6 stars that I bought the first year that they came out. Absolutly love them. My boots are Solomon xwave 9's that are about 3 years old. Last year I bought boot heaters for them, and never had cold feet all season- even on below zero days. Also have an old pair of Solomon xscreams that I use for rock skis.

always fun seeing what everyone else is riding on. here's my quivver:

b/c skis: dynastar intuitiv big with a freeride binder
b/c boot: garmont g-ride

in bounds skis: dynastar legend 8000 with a volkl P50 motion on rock ski duty and volkl P40 platinum on emergency back up notice.
in bounds boot: salomon xwave 10

love volkls and dynastars. skied a lot of other comparable skis in the legend 8000 range and they blow everything else away for how i like to ski and turn.

2004 Volkl 6 Stars (161 cm)... Love them! Hard Pack,Icy conditions especially. (my short toys)

2002 Rossi Bandit X (177cm)... Love them too! (my long toys)

1996 Volant FX2.2 (195cm straight skis)... Love them so much I can't get rid of them, even though I rarely bring them out to play anymore.

I've had others in between the Volants and Rossi's but I didn't LOVE them.

Solomon Evolution 8.0 Boots (need new ones, but I love them!)

02/03 Salomon X-Wave 10 Boots

I love my skis because they're so versatile and so much shorter and wider than my old skis. They tear through anything and still hold well on "hardpack" and float well on pow. All that being said I really want to get a pair of the Legend 8000s.

In my closet are two skeletons and a bogeyman.

Oh, you meant skis- only one pair of Dynastar SkiCross 7's, and I'm tired fo them.

Skis: 1080's - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE 'em. The best purchase (gear wise) I have ever made. With the Look bindings that I got with these sticks, it makes the 1080's more managable in icy conditions.

Boots: Nordica GTS 10's (I think 10's) - Another great purchase. Since day one I never had any pain (knock wood).

boards:

Core 155 cm Livewire snowboard with Core bindings. I use it for freeride and powder days.

_________________________________

Adreniline America 140 cm $100 dollar bill board. I use it for park and freestyle. Needs new bindings bad.

Also painting a custom. Its 130 cm. Also needs new bindings.

This is the tail of the board. It will have my name on it in a medival-style font. I drew it onto the tape, then cut it out carefully with an exact-o knife.
It will be a fade from black at the bottom of the letters, to a black at the top of the letters.

This is the front of the board. It has 1/8" wide livewire type band on it. This will be painted red.

'04 Salomon Crossmax 10 167cm's (smallest I've skied since I was 12...)

'99 Salomon Equipe 8.0 boots

Couple pair of cheap trash Ski Market/Leki poles that make one good pair, as they are garbage. Then again for $18/pair who cares?

185's

Nordica Grand Prix (yeah they're old). I'll wear'em till they fall apart

And my old 203 Dynaster veritical assaults for the bumps...still got a lot of snap in them...but the rockets are soooooooo much fun they'll do anything...just not so hot in the bumps...especially with the length...but I'm getting there...kinda hard to throw around.

So those are kinda 2 specialized ski...

So I'm looking for an all mountain new breed kind of ski...any suggestions...

Got my wife a pair of 170 Volkl's last year...it was from 2003 I think, and it was specially design for a women and it was the top of the line that year...such a deal...I had her on some 195 Kastle's straight sticks...her skking ability sky rocketed...she was on her tails a lot (lack of confidence I guess)....she's just cranking'em out now...like she fell in love with the whole thing all over...

So what's the best bet for an all mountain...some big GS's..Oh used have a pair of 210 dynastar racing the I picked up at play it again...that took awhile to figure out how to ski those...man they were fast...canabilized for the marker titanium binding that I have on my assaults (which was the original reason I bought'em)...too fast...

A Problem

What's not in my closet? What can't I find? The answer would be the same.

I have this problem every year in the spring and fall. I transfer from hiking to skiing and back. I use some of the same gear for both sports. I usually get out and forget something important the first week or two. Like socks. My iShuffle. Camera, batteries. My first aid kit. Hats, gloves.

It usually takes a couple of trips before I get it right. All that even though I have separate bags for each.

Haven't forgotten by ski ticket vouchers yet, cross-fingers!
